About Us
We are Big Kid, and we make some of the best ice cream in the business. I (Harry) hail from the West Midlands and started Big Kid back 2022 with an ice cream van and a determination to take on Mr. Whippy! In 2024 we opened our flagship 'hole in the wall' in Soho and have just celebrated our 4th Birthday! Our ‘all killer, no filler’ approach to ice creams are all crafted in house with a renewed attention to flavour, quality and most importantly, fun. 

 

Now is a really exciting time for the business - we've just relocated production from Wolverhampton (where we were based for 4 years) to a new site in Peckham. This move has been a long time coming and will allow us to finally scale things up. We're anticipating our busiest summer ever and need the very best people to take Big Kid to the next level.

We're looking for experienced bakers/chefs to join us and turn our new HQ in Peckham into an ice cream making factory. We are constantly developing new flavours in our pursuit of dessert dominance and we can't wait to bring to life our ideas with your help.

The Kingly Street ‘hole in the wall’ scoop shop is set to roll out its biggest-ever menu, combining some of our cult classics with a new line up of summer scoops.

​

We're also thrilled to announce the opening of our second site in Seven Dials Market this August - A high concept soft serve bar inspired by your local Mr Whippy!

Production & Operations Manager

Location: Peckham

Hours: Full time
Pay: £37,500-40,000 PA (base)

​​​​​​​​​The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Production Manager to lead operations at our new Peckham Headquarters. You'll be working closely with myself to transform our new site into a highly organised, efficient and scalable operation supplying both our Soho and Seven Dials sites alongside events/festivals and wholesale production.

 

This role would suit an experienced baker, pastry or production chef ready to take the next step into a senior leadership position. Whilst this is production led role, creativity is a huge part of Big Kid and we'd love for an enthusiastic and creative mind to help bring our ideas and plans for dessert dominance to life!

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day production operations

  • Create and manage production schedules

  • Manage stock, ordering and supplier relationships

  • Lead, train and develop a small production team

  • Build and improve production systems and workflows

  • Ensure consistent product quality across all ranges

  • Recipe development and implementation 

  • Maintain HACCP records and EHO compliance

  • Monitor efficiency, minimise waste and improve processes

  • Help scale production as the business grows

 

We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a commercial kitchen, bakery or food production environment

  • Strong organisational and leadership skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Confidence managing stock and production planning

  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards

  • A proactive problem solver who enjoys building systems and improving processes

  • A creative mind - we're always developing new flavours and products

  • No rotten eggs! We're looking for a friendly and outgoing person who can train and support our junior team members. Culture is king. 

 

Bonus Points For

  • Previous management experience

  • Experience with HACCP and EHO inspections

  • Bakery, pastry, dessert or ice cream experience

  • Experience training and developing staff

  • Can drive if needed!

Production Chefs 

Location: Peckham

Hours: Full time (35+ hours a week)
Pay: London Living Wage - £14.80 per hour (base)

​​​​​​​​​The Role

We’re looking for hands-on Production Chefs to help produce the ice creams, sauces and toppings that power Big Kid.

 

This role would suit someone from a bakery, pastry, or production kitchenbackground who enjoys working at pace, takes pride in consistency, and wants to be part of building something special.

 

This is a physically demanding role, working alongside our Production Manager - you’ll play a key role in turning our production kitchen into an ice cream-making machine. Whilst this is production led role, creativity is a huge part of Big Kid and we'd love for you to contribute to our unending list of ideas in pursuit of dessert dominance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce ice cream, soft serve mixes, sauces, toppings and other products to specification

  • Follow production schedules and recipes accurately

  • Weigh, prepare and process ingredients

  • Assist with stock control and inventory management

  • Maintain a clean, organised and efficient workspace

  • Complete production records and food safety documentation

  • Support new product development and recipe trials

  • Help identify ways to improve efficiency and reduce waste

  • Maintain excellent food hygiene standards at all times

 

We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a commercial kitchen, bakery or food production environment

  • Strong attention to detail and consistency

  • Good organisational skills

  • Willingness to learn new skills and develop new products

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Pride in producing high-quality products

Content Creator

Location: All locations
Hours: Part Time/Flexible 
Pay: London Living Wage £14.80 per hour

​​​​​​​​​The Role

We’re looking for a whipper snapper, storyteller, documentarian, content wizard. Someone who has a keen eye for for the details, not only to capture delicious ice cream content but someone who can spot the little things that make Big Kid, Big Kid and turn them into fun, authentic and engaging content.

 

This isn’t just about filming ice cream. It’s about capturing the people, the chaos, the creativity and the moments that make Big Kid what it is.

 

We've been sitting on a bank on content ideas for so long that we can't wait to bring into reality. From new flavour development and showcasing the kitchen to festival weekends and shop openings - There are so many great stories to tell at Big Kid and we need someone to bring them to life for across all social platforms.

 

You’ll work closely with myself and have access to all parts of the business and team to create content across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

​

This is a flexible part time role with the scope to progress into a permanent position for the right candidate. ​

​

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture photo and video content across all areas of the business

  • Create engaging content for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube

  • Document behind-the-scenes moments, product launches and events

  • Help develop content ideas, series and campaigns

  • Edit and publish content across social platforms

  • Work with the team to identify stories worth telling

  • Help build a Big Kid voice and style

  • Make delicious content showcasing our products

 

We’re Looking For

  • Outgoing and friendly personality

  • A natural storyteller with a good eye for detail

  • Comfortable filming, photographing and editing content

  • Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok and YouTube

  • Someone who spots the little moments others miss

  • Creative, proactive and full of ideas

  • Confident speaking to people and making them feel comfortable on camera

  • Organised and able to work independently

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience growing social media accounts

  • Photography or videography experience

  • Graphic design skills

We’re always on the lookout for friendly, enthusiastic and reliable part-time team members to scoop with us this summer — both in our Soho shop and at events around London. We are also opening a second site in Seven Dials this August! This is a great opportunity to be part of a fun, fast-paced environment and work with a young, independent brand.

 

We’re open 7 days a week across 2 sites + events so flexibility to work weekends and evenings is key.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Serving ice cream and delivering top quality customer service

  • Help with setup and pack-down for events/pop-ups

  • Maintain cleanliness and food hygiene standards

  • Assist with stock checks and restocking

  • Deliver great customer service

 

We’re Looking For

  • Outgoing and friendly personality

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Confident working alone and charming a queue

  • Ability to stay upbeat in busy environments

  • A friendly face with a proactive, hands on attitude

  • Attention to the finer details and the little quirks which set us apart from the rest

  • Reliable, clean and tidy worker

  • Experience in hospitality, retail or events is a plus (but not essential)

  • Availability to work weekends and/or evenings, especially during summer, duh!
